Meet Sawyer Sleeman

My first niece Sawyer Sleeman was born March 14th 2012 aka Pie Day. We had a contest within the family to see who could guess the day she would be born. Her Grandpa Curtis was the one who guessed right, but I'm still not sure what his prize was...

After she was born she gave us all a good scare. She was sent to Primary Children's Medical Center to be evaluated for a Heart Defect. Luckily hers was a one of the mild heart defects, although it still required open heart surgery. The procedure went the best it could have gone, and she has been recovering like a champ.

I was at Primary's NICU for Respiratory Clinical's the day she was discharged, so I got to go meet her for the first time there. The next day Jon and I went to see her at home. This was Jon's first time to see her, and you could tell he was quite nervous to hold her. We gave her some cute girl clothes. One of the outfits is yellow and pink and says, "I love my Auntie." I just couldn't resist!!

Her big brothers are so cute with her. Cohen wants to make sure she has this little stuffed bunny with her all the time, and Beckett wants to share his toys with her. He also thought it was pretty cool to feel her suck on her binky... Silly Boys.

I am so grateful for the surgical  intervention that saved her life, and the recovery she is making. I know all our prayers in her behalf were answered. I am so happy we have a loving Heavenly Father looking after us.

Congratulations Matt and Elise, on your sweet baby girl.

PS: Mister Mischief... Found my sunglasses in my purse.

The Road Ahead of Us

Our Spring Break took us on the road to Richland, WA to visit Jonathan's sister and brother in law. The trip was long and I am not a patient traveler, but we really had a great time which made it all worth it.

Cam and Heather have the cutest little house together, and we stayed in the guest room. The accommodations were outstanding, as well as Heather's amazing cooking skills.

We enjoyed

  • Exploring a town filled with murals
  • Going to see Brian Regan at the Capital Theatre in Yakima, WA
  • Riding a tandem bike by the Columbia River
  • Flying kites in the Washington wind
  • Visiting a Museum where we touched a 15 million year old tree!
  • Experiencing Washington Ice Hockey
  • 1/2 way hiking Badger Mountain
  • Seeing the Columbia River Temple

Of course we played our fair share of games together, but that was a must. Cameron and Heather dominated-- I think it was because we were at their house...

Heather and I had a great time shopping together too, although the boys might not agree;) She introduced me to a cool place to get earrings, and I ventured out of my comfort zone and got some cute yellow skinny jeans. We also had a good time shopping for our new niece, Sawyer.

I am so glad we jumped at the opportunity to spend Spring Break with Heather and Cam. It was time well spent, and we had such a good time.

Thanks Guys!

Vitamin D and a Little Wizardry

Last weekend was so nice outside Jon and I couldn't help but go out and enjoy it. So we decided to pack a picnic and go soak in the sun at the park.

We ate sandwiches from Great Harvest, had some fun blowing bubbles, played a card game, and even got a little serious by working on some homework.

With being the fair skinned people we are, we were a nice plush pink after only a couple hours. Here is a picture we took... I didn't notice Jon had given me bunny ears until we were in the car and I was looking at pictures. He told me he just couldn't help it. Such a tease!

Then we headed to the Old Barn in Fielding to see my siblings in the play "Wizard of Oz." It was so fun to watch them, they did such a good job! Taryn, Jarom, Brynne, and Taci were all Munchkins. Taci was also a Poppy, and a Jitterbug. I always enjoy getting the chance to support them in their activities.

Perfect way to start out Spring Break:)

Boarding Bust

Snow and I haven't ever been really good friends. I have been Skiing a few times, but I am no dare devil. When Jonathan found a Bucket List I had made before we were married with "Try Snowboarding" on it, he was convinced I should give it a go.

I borrowed a friends boarding equipment because we are the same height and shoe size. Being students we were able to get a good deal on renting equipment from Weber, so I convinced Jon to let me rent Ski's as well so I could return to my comfort zone if I so desired.

So after one run down the mountain, many falls, and a good crack on the head- I defaulted to Skiing. I wish I would have gave it a better try, but at least I can cross it off my list. Next time I try something new I think I will get an instructor. Jon and I get along better when he isn't trying to teach his hard headed wife.

After the day on the mountain we enjoyed some Coco-Latte Hot Chocolate together. It was so nice to get to do nothing but enjoy the company of my best friend and husband, Jon:)

Trying to come up with my own way to hold a snowboard...

Happy to be Skiing!

On the last run, complaining he is hungry-- No surprise there!
