Valentine Tradition

Ever since I can remember my Dad has made us a Valentine's Breakfast complete with Menus, Decorations, and Homemade Valentines. I have always looked forward to Valentine's Day whether I have had a Sweetheart at the time or not because of this Tradition.

We all appreciate the effort my Dad puts into the Breakfast. He works so hard to make it nice for us, even though he has been busy going to school. My Dad isn't the kind of person who shares his emotions often. He is the kind who shows his love for you by his actions, and doing this for us every year is something that has always shown me how much he cares.

Finally an Aunt!

When I was growing up all my friends and cousins would brag about their Nephews and Nieces and how much fun it was to be a Aunt or Uncle. I was very jealous, so I asked my Mom when I could be an Aunt. I was sorely disappointed when I realized that I wouldn't be an Aunt until one of my younger siblings had a baby. Which at the time the oldest one was probably six or so. My hopes of being a Aunt were crushed.

Until I married Jonathan and by default became an Aunt to two darling boys Cohen(4) and Beckett(18mo). I am already a sucker for little kids, so they soon enough had me wrapped around their fingers. I love playing with Cohen and seeing him get excited over things that are ordinary to me. Beckett is finally warming up to me, but I love his smiles and when he is generous enough to blow me a kiss.

This weekend we got the chance to have Cohen come over. When he got here Friday night I made him Mac&Cheese, every kids favorite. After we went and got ice cream, he had a great time putting every possible topping on his.

Then we went to the Nickel Cade. We played game after game, and I helped him rake in the tickets. We ended up with 222 tickets which equalled enough for a dinky rocket toy, but all that matter was he had lots of fun and the toy wasn't so dinky to him:)

When we got home it was almost his bed time. So we played a couple games, brushed his teeth, and got in his PJs. He slept on the floor at the foot of our bed in his Cars sleeping bag. Then the next morning at a bright and early 630am I helped him go to the bathroom. After that I don't think he ever really went back to sleep because Jon woke up at 730 to the lights on and Cohen playing in the living room. So Jon got up and got the two of them breakfast. Later I got up and we got ready to go to the Aquarium in Sandy.

Although the Aquarium was packed we had a lot of fun. The penguins and otters were my favorite. I think the sharks were Cohen's. Jon and I touched the sting rays in the touching pool, but Cohen was a little hesitant to.

By far Cohen had the best time in the gift shop looking at all the stuffed animals and toys. They had some fun otter masks we all tried on and took silly pictures in. We ended up coming home with a big stuffed snake for Cohen and a baby penguin to take to Beckett.

Although Jon and I were worn out by the end of the day we had a really great time. I am just so happy I finally get to be an Aunt. :)
